Lucas amiibo – Super Smash Bros. Series
The name Lucas does not differ significantly between regions. In Japan the character is known as Ryuka. The amiibo was released in January 2016 in Japan, North America, and Europe as part of a later wave of the Super Smash Bros. line.
This amiibo supports both read and write functionality. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U it can generate and store a Figure Player. The same applies to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch. The character data is saved directly on the figure. In other compatible games the amiibo is read only and typically provides items or minor bonuses.
The figure shows Lucas in a slightly forward stance. One foot is placed ahead of the other. His knees are bent. The right hand is raised with fingers spread as if preparing a PSI technique. The left arm extends behind him for balance. His face looks concentrated. He wears a red and yellow striped shirt, blue shorts, white socks, and red shoes. The blond hair is rounded and sculpted close to the head. The pose reflects his neutral battle stance in Super Smash Bros., where he channels psychic energy before an attack.
Lucas originates from the Game Boy Advance title Mother 3, released in 2006 in Japan. He is the main protagonist of that game. The story follows his personal development in a changing rural world. Over time he gains psychic abilities and emotional resilience. Within the Super Smash Bros. roster he represents the Mother series alongside Ness. His presence connects the Smash series to a part of Nintendo history that remained regionally limited for many years.
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, scanning the amiibo creates a trainable Figure Player that can level up to 50. The character adapts based on battle experience and player interaction. Equipment settings in the Wii U version can be assigned and stored. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Nintendo Switch, the amiibo again creates a trainable fighter with updated AI behavior. Previous data can be transferred.
Outside the Smash titles, the Lucas amiibo is compatible with selected Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch games that support amiibo features. In Mario Kart 8 on Wii U it unlocks a Lucas-themed Mii racing suit. In other supported titles it provides daily items or small bonuses. The additions are functional and limited in scope.
The Lucas amiibo combines a static display figure with stored gameplay data. Its value appears through repeated use in compatible games. It stands as part of the structured Super Smash Bros. amiibo catalogue and reflects a specific character and series within Nintendo history.
