Streaming stutter happens when the game can’t feed assets fast enough. It can be storage, decompression, VRAM pressure, or background disk load. Fix the bottleneck, not the symptom.

Signs It’s Streaming Stutter

  • Spikes when entering new areas or turning quickly.
  • Texture pop-in or late detail loading.
  • Hitches align with new effects or new environments.

Fix Order

  1. Stop background disk activity (downloads, indexing) and retest.
  2. Lower texture settings if VRAM is tight.
  3. Prefer installing games on faster storage when possible.
  4. Keep a stable frame cap so spikes are easier to identify.

Rule: don’t blame VRR or the monitor for streaming stutter. It starts in the asset pipeline.
