For online play, stability matters more than average speed. Wi-Fi failures usually show up as spikes and micro-stutters, not a clean disconnect. Fix the environment first.
The Stability Rules
- Reduce distance and obstacles between device and router.
- Avoid congested channels and noisy environments.
- Stop background uploads during play.
- If competitive: use Ethernet whenever possible.
How to Test Correctly
- Test during real load (someone streaming + you gaming).
- Look for spikes, not averages.
- Repeat at the same time of day to spot congestion patterns.
Rule: do not buy hardware until you have verified the environment and load behavior.
